The Metro Detroit Historians' Collegium will hold a virtual meeting at 1 PM on Friday 8 April, when we will hear "Shawarma Poutine: Arab Foodways in the Windsor/Detroit Borderlands" by Dr. Robert Nelson, Head of the Department of History at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada. Virtually all North American birder foodways literature focuses on the US Southwest, where an international boundary runs through an ethnic foodway. This research is enormously valuable, but Mexican food in the Southwest does not tell us much about a diasporic border food community.
The Journal of the American Studies Association of Texas (JASAT) is now accepting book reviews for 2022. I would like to invite any interested scholar to write a review for our upcoming issue. Below is a list of links to reputable scholarly publishers. If you see any recent publication that sparks your interest, I would be happy to request it for your review. If you have a particular book in mind, I am willing to consider any book that explores a topic dealing with American history, literature, journalism, or culture.
